New Hurdle for Hunters Point Redevelopment
Redevelopment plans for San Francisco's Hunter's Point Naval Shipyard are being challenged. Two environmental groups filed suit to block the redevelopment saying a key part of the plan could permanently damage shoreline and wildlife.At issue is a 41-foot bridge that would be built over Yosemite Slough connecting the two parts of the project area.
LGBT Community Seeks More Enduring Pride Event
This weekend Oakland's Lesbian, Gay, BiSexual and Transgender community will try again to create a pride celebration that catches on. Two previous efforts, East Bay Pride and Out in Oakland, folded due to management problems and the bad economy. Amber Todd co-chairs this year's event. She wants to make sure people know the area has a solid L-G-B-T community.
Bay Areas Universities Kick Off
Some Bay Area College Football teams kick off their seasons this labor day weekend. Cal will have the homefield advantage against UC Davis tomorrow...while down on the farm, Stanford hosts Sacramento State. San Jose State has the toughest match up ...they'll be at Alabama, taking on the defending national champions..
