Three Taxes Added to Oakland's November Ballot
Oakland residents will have a few new taxes to vote on this November. A marijuana tax, a tax that would add two dollars to phone bills to boost the city's general fund, and a public safety parcel tax that could help increase the police force will all be on the ballot.

The National Portrait Gallery in Washington, D.C., has unveiled a painting of Norman Mineta, former mayor of San Jose, member of Congress and the first Asian American to serve in the cabinet. Mineta, who with his family was interned during World War II, was honored for championing the cause of Asian Americans.
