BART Police Lose Tasers, for Now
Police officers with BART are turning in their tasers temporarily, until they get new training. BART officials say the new training comes because of court rulings spelling out new rules for use of the electric stun guns. But it also comes two weeks after a BART officer fired his stun gun at a teenage suspect fleeing the scene of an investigation on a bicycle.
