Tom Vanderbilt's book "Traffic" examines a complex web of physical, psychological and technical factors that explain how traffic works, why we drive the way we do and what our driving says about us. We discuss the book, and driving, with the author. Vanderbilt writes for many publications, is contributing editor to two design magazines and a contributing writer for the blog Design Observer.
