Download audio (MP3)

We continue our series on the May 19 special election with in-depth conversations on Propositions 1D and 1E. In the first half hour, we look at how Prop 1D asks voters to decide whether to temporarily shift funds from early childhood education to help make up the budget deficit. In the second half hour we review Prop 1E, which asks voters to decide whether to shift funds from mental health services in the state.

Host: Dave Iverson

Guests:

  • Delaine Eastin, former superintendent of Public Instruction for California (first half hour)
  • Dan Carson, deputy legislative analyst at the Legislative Analyst's Office, California's non-partisan fiscal and policy adviser (first half hour)
  • Rusty Selix, executive director and legislative advocate for the Mental Health Association of California (second half hour)
  • Bruce Pomer, executive director of The Health Officers Association of California, representing physician health officers in California's county and city health departments (full hour)
