Khaled Hosseini transported readers to his native Afghanistan with his best-selling novels "The Kite Runner" and "A Thousand Splendid Suns." He returns with a new novel, "And the Mountains Echoed." Spanning over 50 years, the book portrays Afghanistan through the lens of a family coping with separation and tragedy.
