Reconsidering America's School System

Download audio (MP3)

Education historian Diane Ravitch, who served in the first Bush administration, was once a leading proponent of charter schools, standardized testing and free market solutions for schools. Now, she has rejected virtually all of those reform strategies. She joins us in-studio to explain her changing views and to talk about her new book, "The Death and Life of the Great American School System."

Host: Michael Krasny

Guests:

  • Diane Ravitch, author, historian of education at New York University and former assistant secretary of education in the George H.W. Bush administration
