First Generation College Students - Part II

Download audio (MP3)

In California, students whose parents don't have a four year college degree are dramatically less likely to earn a college degree themselves. In the second hour of our special live remote broadcast from San Jose's Downtown College Prep High School, we explore challenges and strategies for success for first generation college students.

Host: Michael Krasny

Guests:

  • Armando Cervantes, Downtown College Prep alumnus, class of 2004
  • Jeff Davis, adjunct professor of English and director of the Learning Center at Sonoma State University, and author of "The First Generation Student Experience"
  • Jennifer Andaluz, co-founder and executive director of Downtown College Prep High School
  • Sharifa Wilson, site director for College Track, East Palo Alto and a first generation student
