Download audio (MP3)

As part of its bankruptcy plans, General Motors appears to have spared its joint venture production facility with Toyota in Fremont. The assembly line is called New United Motor Manufacturing Inc. (NUMMI). Its future has been in question ever since GM announced it would phase out its Pontiac brand. NUMMI produces more than 400,000 cars and trucks a year, including the compact Pontiac Vibe.
